Meet Gilberto Amimo Otieno! He is 11 years old and lives with his mum, dad and 6 sisters. He lives in Soweto corner club, Kibera and is in primary school, class six. Gilberto joined Wale last year to be able to dance, to draw in art class and get help with his studies. He says that his favorite thing about Wale is that no one discriminates anyone, everyone can be who they are and not being ashamed of that. Gilberto’s favorite memory at Wale was when the dance group performed at the Nairobi International Trade Fair.
Gilberto wants to go to high school and the best university in town. After that, in the future, he wants to be a scientist because he thinks that it is the job that suits him best. One person that has been helping Gilberto figuring out his future is Monica. Gilberto says that she is strict but in a good way, someone that helps the kids doing good things with their life instead of being out in Kibera doing nothing.
